In order to educate, inform and inspire citizens participation in the governmental process, to create a dialogue providing the basis to inspire new leadership for America, co-organized by Leadership America Foundation, Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association (APAPA www.apapa.org), Vision New America, Organization of Chinese Americans, International Leadership Foundation, and University of California Chinese Alumni Association (UC Chinese), a Leadership Forum was held at the Yin’s Ranch, Vacaville, California on May 21, 2004. There were 100 organizations leaders attended this forum. The forum title is “Navigating Your Way to the White House” with two honorary Keynote Speakers: Mr. Ed Moy and Mr. Matt Fong. Mr. Moy is a Special Assistant to the President and Associate Director, Office of Presidential Personnel at the White House for the personnel appointment of the Departments of Health, Education, Agriculture, Labor and Inner Affairs. Mr. Moy was born and raised from a traditional Chinese family immigrated from south China. After two years college, Mr. Moy discovered that his interest was in politics and economics instead of the medical science, which was his father, preferred and pushed him for many years. He had well prepared and headed his own way to the White House eventually. It is an excellent lesson to learn for our Chinese parents and young generation. As parents, we should learn how to respect our children’s interests instead of against theirs in this great country. Mr. Fong is an attorney in L.A., California and President of Leadership America Foundation, former Treasurer of California State; President Bush nominated him as Under Secretary for US Army in 2001. He is the son of March Fong Eu (余江月桂) who was elected to serve as Secretary of California State for 20 years and Ambassador for four years at the Clinton’s Administration. Ms. Eu was born in America and received B. Sc. and Ph. D. from University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University, respectively.
